One-Time Event, During School Hours

This fundraiser, which typically occurs in the spring, allows all students to participate by taking their artwork and turning it into products that families can purchase and keep as mementos forever.

One-Time Event, Outside of School Hours

This committee meets on one weekend during the fall and again in the spring to help maintain and improve outdoor areas around the school.  This committee needs lots of helpers who don’t mind rolling their sleeves up for some outdoor work!

One-Time Event, During School Hours

This event is held in the fall and again in the spring.  The Book Fair lasts for a week each time and requires several volunteers to help with different events like Family Night and to help during school hours as cashiers and helpers while each classroom visits the Book Fair.  Our students, teachers and parents love our Book Fair!  We are looking for someone to help co-chair this event for the 2017-2018 school year.

One-Time Event, During School Hours

This is J.V. Washam’s largest fundraiser!  Students raise money for their school through pledges for a fun run that ties in good character traits in the process.  The students have so much fun at this event that includes music and tons of fun!

Ongoing Support, After School Hours

This fundraiser is a great way to enjoy a break from cooking, support our school, and support local businesses! Restaurants donate a portion of their sales on designated J.V. Washam dining nights.

Monthly Event, During School Hours

This fundraiser occurs typically once per month.  Students can bring in a donation to their teacher to be able to wear pajamas for the day, participate in crazy hair day and other fun themes!  On these days, volunteers are needed to collect money from each classroom and make deposits.

One-Time Event, During School Hours

Field Day is an action-packed day full of fun events for our students that takes place toward the end of the school year!  Lots of volunteers are needed to help with each station, setting up, and cleaning up after the event.

One-Time Event, During School Hours

Volunteers will plan, organize, and implement a fun, end-of-year picnic/celebration for fifth graders.

One-Time Event, During School Hours

Volunteers will plan, organize, and implement a "moving up" ceremony/celebration for the 5th grade class.

Ongoing Support, During School Hours

Informational folders are sent home with your student every Friday.  Volunteers are needed to meet on Friday mornings to help stuff each folder and deliver them to the classrooms.

One-Time Event, After School Hours

The Fall Fete & Silent Auction is an adult-only fundraiser held off-site, usually during the fall.  This fun event raises money for our school through silent auction donations.  Volunteers for this committee are needed to solicit donations for the auction, help with setting up and taking down this event, and help take shifts to work during this event.

Ongoing Support, During School Hours

Greeters are needed throughout the year to welcome and sign people in during special events held at the school.

One-Time Event, During School Hours

The Holiday Shop is a seasonal store set up for a week before winter break.  Each classroom has a set time to visit the Holiday Shop where students purchase inexpensive gifts to give to their friends and family.  We need lots of volunteers during this week to help set up the shop, help as a cashier, or wrap the presents that are purchased.  The Holiday Shop is always a big hit with the kids!

Ongoing Support, During School Hours

Volunteers help support our media specialists by re-shelving checked in books in the library and in the Book Room.  There are several options for days and times available for volunteers to help.

Ongoing Support, During School Hours

Volunteers take pictures at school events to provide to our school newspaper, The Hawkeye, our website, and for use in our yearbook.

Ongoing Support, During School Hours

The school marquee, located at the entrance of school, is updated once a week to keep our parents current on school events and information.

Ongoing Support, Work is done at home

Help organize our "silent" fundraisers, like Harris Teeter Together in Education, Publix Partners, Box Tops for Education, Coke Rewards, etc.

Ongoing Support, During School Hours

The School Store has t-shirts, spirit sticks, and other items available for purchase to our students.  Volunteers are needed throughout the year to supervise and assist the student volunteers in the store.

Ongoing Support, During School Hours

School Tours are given throughout the year to new and prospective students.  Volunteers take prospective families around J.V. Washam and answer questions about our school.  1 hour of training is provided.

Ongoing Support, During School Hours

Volunteers help assist administration with printing award certificates throughout the year for student’s achievements.  We are looking for volunteers and for someone to help co-chair this for the 2017-2018 school year.

One-Time Event, After School Hours

The Sweetheart Dance is a large event held in our school gym on a weekend during the spring.  This event requires volunteers to help with decorating, setting up, helping during the dance and other support in the planning.  This is a fun night for students to dance, enjoy music, and bring their favorite grown up to accompany them!

Ongoing Support, During School Hours

Volunteers help organize and plan events for the staff and donate items needed on days when breakfast/lunch or other events are scheduled for the teachers and staff.

Monthly Event, During School Hours

On VIP Day, your student can bring their “VIP” to school for breakfast in the cafeteria followed by time in the classroom for a glimpse inside their school day.  Volunteers on this committee help set and clean up breakfast provided to the VIP's.  We are currently looking for a volunteer to co-chair this committee for the 2017-2018 school year.
